Housekeeper and kitchen chef Mila talks about her day-to-day work at kinderzimmer
Mila previously worked as a childcare worker in Ukraine and later as well in Germany. She enjoys cooking and baking also in her private life and now she has become the good soul in the Bergstedter Scheune. Since November 2023 she has been supporting her pedagogic team and the nursery manager in daily business. Find out in the interview what she likes most about her job and what her daily tasks involve.
Why did you choose to work at kinderzimmer?
Because kinderzimmer offers work in a friendly environment of supportive colleagues and the opportunity to work not too fat from home. The fact that I can communicate in english was also a plus – and the kid’s laughter of course. That makes me happy every day!
What do you like most about kinderzimmer?
The positive and joyful atmosphere at work.
What does a typical working day look like for you?
My typical tasks include the kitchen preparation, a food inventory check as well as a food quality check. Then of course serving lunch to the children and the clean up of the kitchen.
What should the ideal housekeeper bring to the job?
Important qualities are cleanliness, efficient time management and high accuracy and diligence which is mainly important for a strict food quality control.
You should also have fun working with children and be able to create a warm and welcoming environment for them.
What accompanies you daily at work?
Of course my kitchen equipment, the kids‘ smiles, fresh food and friendly colleagues. And my own tidiness and willingness to work.
